SITE ACCESSIBILITY

In the effort to support athletes in an inclusive way, this site continually changes!

For 4LO, community is important. To uphold our responsibility to our community, inclusivity to support all abilities online is important. With one in four adults in the U.S. identifying as having a disability that affects their daily life, at 4LO, we simply do our best to maintain a site accessible to users of every ability. For these purposes, accessibility covers site effectiveness, and experience. The goal for this site is that every user that interacts with this site has a full andd accurate experience of its content. 

To maintain this value, all site content is created with the lens of adhering to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) along with using the policies and latest standards outlined in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), version 2.2, as released in October 2023.  

Based on the WGAC 2.2 Guidelines, this site was developed using the four accessibility pillars, 1.) Perceivable, 2.) Operable, 3.) Understandable, and 4.) Robust.  These technical standards ensure that the site can be usable and accessible to all users. 

PERCEIVABLE - The interface and the information on the site must be perceivable, or able to be perceived, or recognized by all users. For examples, this site includes the use of captions and alternative text for the recognition of each photo on the site, that can be used by users with screen readers. For some users, photos without alternative text may never be recognized, which reduces the effectiveness and experience of the site for these users. 

OPERABLE - The interface and the navigation of the site must be operable or functional and working for all users. An example of this is illustrated when a user doesn't use a mouse to navigate a website. A user may rely on a keyboard, or voice commands. This site does have the option of being navigable using keyboard commands. 

UNDERSTANDABLE - The interface and site content should be understandable, or clear and easy to use. This site has been designed with the goal of being intuitive for users across the ability spectrum. The site's navigation were developed with simplicity as the goal, for ease of use. 

ROBUST - The interface and site content must be robust enough to be used by several different assistive technologies, and withstand the changes of time. This means keeping up with the changing policies and making the necessary changes.  

This website is continually updated to reflect the latest policies. Please keep in mind - this site was developed by human hands and minds, so while the effort is made, things can still be missed, even if changes are continually made in good faith.
